Well, here we go with more anti-gay slurs. Is it just me, or is the media starting to report these stories like its not a big deal? It almost feels like they don’t want to report it, but overshadow it with other information to ease the seriousness of what is said…Like “Jerry Lewis spouts gay slur…but raises 67 million!” What a crack!

For example, this new statement by Jerry Lewis. Old man and the telethon. So, here’s the story…He (for whatever reason) started goofing off and rambling to a cameraman about having an imaginary family..mmm okay…He then says, “Oh, you’re family is here to see you. You remember Bart, your older son…” Then says, “Jesse, the illiterate fa…” But stops himself from finishing that last word. He later apologized saying “I apologize to anyone who was offended,” “Everyone who knows me understands that I hold no prejudices in this regard. In the family atmosphere of the telethon, I forget that not everyone knows me that well.”

Does that make it alright? So, what he’s saying is that had he not been on national television, he would have said that? Because his friends know him? I’m confused, didn’t he say he holds no prejudices? What a putz! Should we chalk it up to him being 81 years old? Not in my mind. I’m sick and tired of all this!

Let’s take a look back on some of Jerry’s quotes….

I don’t like any female comedians,” he responded, going on to say that seeing a woman doing comedy “sets me back a bit. … I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies into the world.”

“He deserved to die! It’s his own damn fault” – On the death of Merv Griffin not accepting cancer treatment.

I do admit, he does a lot of great charity work. But that doesn’t make him an angel.

Do you think its time for Jerry to throw in the towel and let someone else take over?

Maybe he can call Rosie! I think she’d be PERFECT for the job!

I was born in 1976 by my parents, of course. A straight mother and a gay father. They divorced when I was one. My mother remarried when I was two and I learned of my biological father when I was 14 years old. I didn’t decide to meet him until I was 24. This decision I would later realize to be the biggest regret of my life.

My upbringing was that of Roman Catholic. We didn’t really go to church every Sunday, but I did go to Catholic school until the fourth grade, which was enough for me! I later transferred to public schools which was much better. I wasn’t popular, but I did have a popular best friend. Although outside of school I was somewhat a loner, I mixed in with everyone pretty well, but I was mostly introverted and quite. I dated the same boy throughout high school. Yes, I said boy! haha After high school, I dated a variety of men that although I felt the need to constantly please them and seek approval, inside I really didn’t care. Looking back, I think it was more of a father figure I was looking for.

I finally met my real father at age 24 after hearing constant rumors that he was HIV positive and possibly had full blown AIDS. We didn’t have your normal reunion you might think of. It was at his father’s funeral. I went with cousins, not knowing he’d be there. I was told he was too sick. Not ever seeing a picture of him, I knew it was him as soon as I saw him. It was like looking into a mirror. He knew me right away. We hugged and cried and just talked briefly after the funeral. I only saw him twice after that before he passed away in 2001.

It wasn’t until I was 27 and engaged to be married did I finally have the courage to come all the way out of the closet. Remembering my mother talk about how hard the divorce of my father was with two small children, I didn’t want to make the same mistake. So, living with my fiancee at the time in Tampa, we ended it mutually and I moved back home. Today, he is still my best friend and I miss him everyday.

This is about the time I met Juliette! We actually met on myspace and became instantly attached to one another. Okay, maybe me more than her! lol But we became great friends and have been ever since.

I am currently in school for Surgical Technology and hope to be finished by the end of next year. I volunteer a lot with our local AIDS agency. This is a way I can give back to the same agency that helped my father. I am hoping/trying to start on a book loosely based on my life. I love writing and I love writing for this blog. I thank Juliette for that idea!

The couple was previously the foster parents to the two children they are now able to adopt. They petitioned to adopt the 10 & 6-year-old siblings last year; they were denied but now the Maine Supreme Judicial Court have ruled that the law does not prohibit two unmarried people from adopting a child together.

Do you ever have a day or a week that just seems to be so crappy you just gotta get it out!!??!!

We’ll, I’m having one of those weeks! So, I hope you don’t mind but, I’m gettin’ it out of me!

This week started off with so much promise for the future. Seriously! Sounds cheesey, but I was awaiting a call to find out if I got this apartment I really really wanted bad. So I call the complex to see if there is ANYTHING I can help them with to get this process done faster….(que the sound of slamming on the breaks). The answer is NO! I was devastated.

Doesn’t sound like a big deal right? Maybe it was my credit..maybe it was…MY CURRENT LANDLORD!!

Some of you may remember a story I did about housing discrimination. Well, its alive and well in my life right now. I’ll spare you all the nasty details, but basically because she decided to be a **** and give a horrible reference about me to the new place, I didn’t get it. Apparently, the comments were so negative that they wouldn’t even here my side of the story. About all the trouble I have had with her….not to mention the neighbors upstairs have a hard time with her too. She’s basically slumlord and a bigit. She sent someone up to the apartment once who was working on the house to ask if I was related to the girl sitting on my couch (my girlfriend). I looked at him and said “No, that’s my girlfriend”. Ever since then she has been a nightmare, a thorn in my side. And now she won’t let me re-sign my lease for another year, and she’s giving bad references so I can’t get a new place. So WTF!!!! I’m not going to let her bring me down…No Way!!

I won’t say too much more, as I’m still deciding on whether or not to take legal action. I’ve probably said more than I should. But like I said, I just gotta get it outta me!!! Stay tuned to this one, because if I know my landlord, there WILL be more to this…

Let’s start something new shall we? How about you if you all feel the need to bitch, moan, complain or get something outta you, then do it here! Feel free!! Get it out!!!

“Ulrike Boehmer at the Boston University of Public Health used data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth to compare population estimates of obesity across sexual orientation groups” and found that “lesbians were 2.69 times more likely to be overweight and 2.47 times more likely to be obese than their heterosexual counterparts.”

While these researchers are concerned with the health outcomes that obesity produces; they acknowledge that it may be a result of different beauty standards among lesbians than heteros.
