Lets just call it what it is. This is something that happens in our community the same percentage of the time as it does in heterosexual couples. So why don’t we talk about it? Where is the support? Sadly, I know of friends who have been or are currently in abusive relationships with their partners. But many of them are afraid to reach out for help because of a possible homophobic response or for fear of being “outed”. However, this is happening, and people need to be aware as to what abuse is, how to get help and how to break out of the cycle. Many people don’t even realize they are being abused!
