What in the World…

What in the world are you doing December 1st? Did you know its World AIDS Day? This is the day where nearly every city in every country in the world is remembering the past, present and future of this disease. But, its not just about remembering. Its about awareness. Its about prevention and education. Its about celebrating the lives of those who have been lost, those who are living, family and friends affected and those who have the power to prevent it.

So, what am I doing? I’ll be down at Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati making a human Red Ribbon around the brand new fountain! This is a project started by AIDS Volunteers of Cincinnati. We are hoping to have about 150 people come down and help us! This is a fantastic organization who help thousands around the tri-state area!

Like I said, there are things going on all around the world on this day. A few examples, in London, MTV Flux will be offering a chance for a lucky viewer to be the VJ of the Day, on December 1st. In Tianjin, China they are celebrating all weekend with a three day conference at the Tianjin Tianbao International Hotel. And who could forget what Oprah and Bono are doing for AIDS relief in Africa? Sprint, The Gap, iPod, just to name a few are participating in the Red Campaign. When you buy certain products from these stores and others, a portion of the proceeds will benefit AIDS relief in Africa. Have you seen the Gap shirt? Awesome! Made with authentic fabric from Africa. The red Motorola Razor phone….you can only find that at Sprint! Or get your new red Nano iPod. That’s next on my list!

There are a lot of ways to get involved. Big or small, it doesn’t matter. A simple red ribbon on your coat is just as important as getting involved in a large event.

So tell me… What are you doing on December 1st?
